Being an Australian abstract artist, Amica Aindow transcends the reality of daily life with her artwork. Originally from Hanover, Germany, Aindow spent her formative years on the Isle of Wight before moving to Australia in 1989. After completing her secondary education degree, she went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts and Painting from the Queensland University of Technology in 2003. A few years later, in 2013, she obtained a diploma in Graphic Design and Desktop Publishing from the Australian College.
Aindow’s art is driven by the desire to capture a sense of serenity amidst the chaos of life. She embraces the fleeting and imperfect nature of existence, seeking to imbue her work with a feeling of natural simplicity and beauty. Aindow works intuitively, often spending many hours at a time using air and gravity to manipulate fluid media like ink. She may also incorporate elements such as smoke, whiskey, or coffee into her creations. Her art is heavily influenced by the Japanese concept of “Ma” (?) – which refers to the space between things.
