ISH medical experts are being urged to attend a rare masterclass to learn about a device that could revolutionise their current treatment practices.

Commonly used to treat conditions such as warts and verrucae, the innovative Swift® device resolves four out of five cases for patients and is a global success with more than 300,000 treatments carried out worldwide.

Medical microwave pioneers, Emblation, are extending an invitation to podiatrists to attend a new masterclass, hosted by industry experts Matthew Butters and Noela Mullan who will give a live demonstration of the device.

Taking place on February 21 at Noela’s clinic, The Foot Company, in Limavady Co. Londonderry, attendees will witness live patient demonstrations showcasing Swift’s transformative capabilities along with an insider’s perspective on the technology’s immense practice benefits.

Matthew Butters, owner of Colne Valley Chiropody & Podiatry in Yorkshire, purchased a Swift system in April 2019 conducting over 2,000 treatments said: “The benefits of Swift over traditional treatments are clear – there is little to no recovery downtime, no bulky dressings required and no painful needles involved.

“Patients can simply arrive at the clinic for their Swift appointment and leave just minutes later to immediately resume their day.

“The cure rate I’ve seen with Swift far surpasses the results of any other treatments historically used over the years, to treat warts and verrucae.

“With Swift, patients don’t need to worry about booking time off work or scheduling around downtime for recovery. Treating and sending them on their way in minutes is incredibly convenient for both the clinician and patient.”

The Swift device is designed for portability and enables podiatrists to administer a precise dose of microwave energy directly into skin lesions, stimulating an immune response without impacting the surrounding tissue.

This helps patients get rid of painful warts and verrucae without requiring any anaesthetic or bulky dressings.

Widely acclaimed by podiatrists and dermatologists in more than 20 countries, its success is largely attributed to its effectiveness, especially in treating verrucae.

The innovative microwave technology is undergoing extensive clinical trials as a potential treatment for a range of other conditions such as fungal nail, facial acne, skin cancers and cervical cancer.

Matthew added: “Since I started using the device in 2019, it has revolutionised my practice, it stands as one of the best business decisions I’ve made.

“Swift could be transformative for podiatrists, with not only the benefits it will bring to patient outcomes, but from a financial standpoint clinic owners stand to gain by investing in this technology.”

“Swift’s potential is still largely untapped in Ireland, and I would encourage anyone who would like to learn more about the technology to please come along.

Emblation was founded by Gary Beale and Eamon McErlean, who met during post-graduate studies at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.

The firm’s growth was boosted in 2021 when it was backed by London-based specialist healthcare investors at Apposite Capital.
