Scottish council gives green light to £2m business hub

A SCOTTISH council has agreed on a land deal which will pave the way for a £2m business hub, due to be completed by the end of this year.

Fife Council’s Economic Development Team has announced the sale of around two acres at The Avenue, Lochgelly, to Easy Living Developments, a Glenrothes-based design and build construction company.

Easy Living Developments’ substantial investment will see the construction of a brand-new Business Centre featuring sixteen modern units.

The £2m investment will create 16 new business units.

Located within the existing Lochgelly Industrial Park, the Centre is designed to attract a mix of light industrial Class 4, 5 and 6 occupiers, with construction set to begin in the next few months.

Designed for maximum flexibility, the units will vary in size from approximately 1,000 sq. ft to roughly 1,500 sq. ft. with the opportunity to combine individual units thereby creating a facility capable of accommodating a variety of different businesses.

In line with modern building standards the units will have an insulated cladding external wall and roof structure with the Centre also enjoying an EV charging point to facilitate the growing use of electric vehicles.

Easy Living Developments also operates a housebuilding and commercial division which has recently completed its development of 168 two-to-five-bedroom homes at the adjacent ‘The Avenues’ site in Lochgelly.

Other recent developments have included the regeneration of a part of Glenrothes town centre, bringing M&S and The Food Warehouse to a new retail park there, having successfully relocated the old CISWO Club to a fantastic new facility within the town.

Keith Davidson, Chief Executive Officer at Easy Living Developments, said: “The new Business Centre will offer exciting opportunities for local businesses, providing them with modern, flexible workspaces.

“We are also very hopeful that the new centre will attract a diverse range of businesses and create new jobs in the area and in doing so contribute to the continued economic growth of Lochgelly and the surrounding area.

“Further details of the opportunities will soon be available from the new developments, Sales and Managing Agents, Andrew Reilly Associates.”

Pamela Stevenson, Service Manager – Economic Development at Fife Council, said: “We are delighted to welcome Easy Living Developments to Lochgelly and support this significant investment.

“This new Business Centre aligns perfectly with our economic development strategy for Fife, fostering a vibrant business environment and creating valuable employment opportunities for the local community.”
