Police investigate alleged sexual assault


A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a busy city centre street.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident which took place at around 6.30am this morning (Fri) on Edinburgh’s Broughton Street.

They are appealing for anyone who may have saw anything to come forward.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police are investigation a report of a sexual assault that happened in Broughton Street, Edinburgh, sometime around 0630 hrs this morning (May 6).

“A 46-year-old man has been detained in connection with this incident. Inquiries are ongoing, but police are appealing for anyone who may have any information to get in touch on 0131 311 3131.”
