Hearts midfielder Miguel Pallardo keen to open contract talks

Hearts midfielder Miguel Pallardo’s agent admits he is keen to begin re-signing talks with the Tynecastle club.

Pallardo’s current one-year deal expires next summer and with the Spaniard settled both on and off the park, the 29-year-old has no immediate desire to seek a move away from Edinburgh.

Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson has already talked of his intention to prolong the former Valencia and Levante playmaker’s stay in the Capital and Pallardo’s representative Clive Jagger admits he is eager to get the ball rolling.

Jagger, who also represents Hearts striker Juanma, said: “Nothing has been said as yet with regards to a new contract for Miguel but I am expecting to have a conversation with Hearts in the coming weeks.

“I had a conversation about this with Miguel recently and he is keen to stay.

“Miguel is extremely happy at Hearts and with the relationship he has with Robbie, Juanma is exactly the same.

“We’re up for sitting down and talking to them as he is happy there.

“As an agent, I’ve also got to be looking for a deal that can secure the future of a player that will more than likely play football up until his mid-30s, so we have to look at that side of it also.”

After joining last September, Pallardo, who made 24 appearances during last season’s Championship-winning campaign, has been restricted to only seven outings so far this term due to separate Achilles and calf problems.

Hearts head coach Neilson has already tied Jamie Walker, Igor Rossi and Arnaud Djoum down on new deals.
