EasyJet shock customer by advertising three star hotel for nearly £33k

EASYJET have stunned a potential customer after she discovered a three star family holiday would cost her more than the UK average salary.

Rachael Morrell was quoted more than £32,000 for 10-night stay all inclusive in the Costa del Sol, Spain, according to the easyJet holidays website.

Other searches for the package holiday at the Hotel Club Palia La Roca near Malaga departing from different UK airports were also advertised as being around £30,000 for a family of four.

However a package holiday at a five star hotel, also in the Costa Del Sol, costs less than half the price of the one Rachel was looking at.

Rachael was quoted over £30,000

Rachel’s pictures show how her holiday would cost her a total of £32,949 between July 29 to August 8 for four people in one room from Newcastle to Malaga.

She posted a screenshot of her search on the easyJet Facebook community page yesterday saying: “Is there something extra special about this hotel for this price?”

The Hotel Club Palia La Roca is situated in the tourist area of Benalmadena and is just metres from the beach.

It offers an all inclusive option as well as a kids club for children.

EasyJet rectified the error eventually

The rooms have free WIFI and satellite TV and are equipped with modern bathroom amenities

The hotel also has an air-conditioned restaurant, a bar, a games room, a TV room and a kids play park.

According to TripAdvisor, most of the reviews for the complex are very positive, with a four out of five star rating.

However, one user was not impressed with the hotel.

Rachael posted her ordeal on Facebook

Tripadvisor reviewer AandEEvents from London posted in May this year saying: “I will never step foot inside this awful place again.

“I have stayed in over 400 hotels in 66 counties, written hundreds of reviews for hotels and restaurants, I can’t think of a worse place to stay.

“Only the housekeeping did a very good job and deserve not to be rated the same as the rest of the hotel!”

Another search has revealed that it is not just passengers from Newcastle that are affected by this obscene price.

Departures from Glasgow, Manchester and London Gatwick are consistently showing results of £30,000 for the 10 night stay at the hotel.

One search revealed a flight from Glasgow to Malaga for 10 nights at the Hotel Club Palia La Roca between July 29 to August 8 for two adults, and two 10-year-old children staying in one room came to £32,578.

In comparison the five star Don Carlos Leisure Resort & Spa in Marbella, Costa Del Sol amounts to £13,789 for the same departure date and place.

EasyJet have since rectified the error.

A spokeswoman from easyJet said: “We’d like to say thanks for alerting us to this simple error. We have put a temporary hold on the sale of this particular hotel while we look in to what has happened in the background.

“We hope to have it fixed and available at the correct price to book again as quickly as possible.”
