The Royal Highland Fusiliers 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland (2 SCOTS) were welcomed home after six months of intense and dangerous operations in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province.

HRH Prince Andrew attended the homecoming and took salute outside of Penicuik town hall in Midlothian.

Supporters lined the streets and waved both Scottish and Union Jack flags as battalion members returned to their Penicuik based Glencourse Barracks.

Around 500 troops marched behind a kilted army brass band with their guns on their shoulders.

200 soldiers from the battalion received the Afghanistan Campaign medal from HRH Prince Andrew earlier at the barracks.
