What makes the new 33m SP110 from Sanlorenzo unique

The first of Sanlorenzo’s new SP line (short for Smart Performance), the 33-metre open
yacht SP110, is most likely to attract a lot of attention at the upcoming Cannes Yachting
Festival. Marking the Italian yard’s official entry into the sports yacht market, the Sanlorenzo SP110 features an entirely new design which offers the best performance possible while taking its impact on the environment into account. It is also incredibly agile, responsive and fast, thanks to its jet propulsion. Capable of reaching a top speed of 40 knots due to her triple MAN V12s jet driver engines and lightweight carbon fibre structure, her sleek design was built for performance and liveability on the water with low fuel consumption in mind. The result of a collaboration between Bernardo Zuccon, the exterior designer, Marco Arnaboldi, the hull designer, Piero Lissoni, the interior designer and Tilli Antonelli at Sanlorenzo product development, she embodies the shipyard’s vision in which the founding principles of sustainability, comfort and exclusivity converge.

The SP110 features a long, low, two-deck layout with an eight-metre beam and open stern. Sliding glass doors on the deck aft open to a two-storey passage with a view of both the upper and lower decks from the platform. The upper level offers elevated views on each side as laminated glass covers 80 percent of her exterior design. Housing a lounge and formal dining area, she features sliding doors that open to starboard for access to the secluded sun lounge at the bow, complete with sun pads and an area for al-fresco dining. An enclosed galley and separate wheelhouse are located forward.

Another unique feature is the use of solar panels on the exterior of the wheelhouse. Designed to reduce her environmental impact, the panels allow her to operate all hotellerie functions for a few hours without using generators. The design of her wheelhouse was carefully examined before the installation of the solar panels to ensure the largest usable surface area was used without impairing the overall sleek and sporty aesthetics of the SP110 profile. The lower deck, which can be accessed aft, features an elegant saloon with views on both sides and accommodation for eight guests. This includes an expansive owner’s suite, two VIP cabins and a configurable guest cabin, all with ensuite bathrooms. Cabins for a crew of five are located forward, ensuring she offers an ideal crew-to-guest ratio.

Another special feature of the SP110 is her tender. Although at first glance, it seems that she does not have room for a garage to house a tender, there is, in fact, one onboard. A Williams jet tender is located inside the broad, low transom aft with a concealed cantilever crane and a flap that folds down to create a swimming platform. With plenty of room to enjoy sunbathing, her innovative layout makes the best use of exterior and interior spaces. In addition, her fractional jet propulsion system means that she can be powered by just one engine, two or all three engines, thereby offering owners greater autonomy and lower fuel consumption. According to Sanlorenzo, the new SP110 is set to project “the shipyard into the future with a yacht that completely moves away from conventional models in the same market segment and at the same time sets a new benchmark for the models that will follow.”
