House-hunters left in stitches as “Rightmewve” appears to be listing expensive cat for sale – for £450k

HOUSE-HUNTERS have been left in stitches after “Rightmewve” appeared to be offering a cat for sale – for a whopping £450,000.

The bizarre listing has caught the eye of browsers thanks to the main photo being that of an adult tabby cat looking into the camera.

Despite first impressions indicating one expensive moggy on offer, the advert is in fact looking to sell what appears to be a former cattery.

Past the first image lies further photos of a two-bedroom property in Whitchurch, Shropshire – a charming thatched cottage in the quaint English countryside.

The characteristic property boasts a rural aesthetic at its exterior, with classic brickwork and dormer windows facing a spacious garden where prospective buyers can maintain their own farmland.

The entrance to the property leads interested applicants directly into a modern-looking kitchen, with green counters, a large pantry cupboard and spacious units attached.

Across from the kitchen is a cosy-looking dining room held by wooden structural beams, an open fireplace and a porch where future owners can comfortably enjoy daylight splendour.

The dining area appears to be open plan as a step connects to the lounge area where various armchairs can be seen gathered in a circle with a busy coffee table placed in the middle.

The upper landing shows two small bedrooms which offer a large amount of natural light, with double beds taking up majority of the floor space and facing large windows overlooking a private garden.

Interestingly, the bathrooms appear to be a mix between a lounge area and a washing up room, as the flooring is made up with carpet, a large tub and the stem of a chimney which flows up to the top landing.

The large gardens show rows of large cages, thought to have been used for cats during the property’s history as a cattery – which prospective buyers could instead use to grow plants and vegetables.

Letting agents Wilkinson added the listing late last month at a price of £450,000.

They wrote in the description: “A charming two bedroom detached thatched period character cottage located in a rural location overlooking open countryside and with a substantial former commercial cattery.

“The cottage comprises of: entrance hall, shower room, kitchen, dining room, sitting room, two bedrooms, first floor bathroom, private rear garden, off-street parking for several cars and a wood-built office.”

One house-hunter spotted the unusual listing and took to social media yesterday to share their find, writing: “A very expensive cat for sale”.

The post has since received over 140 likes and dozens of comments from users quick to crack their own jokes about the hilarious listing.

One person wrote: “It says you have to ask the agent about tenure. Is that because you need the cat’s permission to live there?”

Another joked: “Rightmewve”.

A third commented: “It’s funny because ‘right, move’ is what I most commonly say to my cats.”

Added added: “If the cat is included, it’s a big yes from me.”

A fifth wrote: “I don’t really like cats but that’s a good-looking cat. Whether worthy of £450k is another subject.”

Wilkinson has been approached for comment.
