The Un-real McCoy’s: Customer fuming after finding just 12 crisps in packet

A BRITISH woman has been left fuming after purchasing a packet of McCoy’s crisps and finding a measly total of just 12 crips to be eaten.

The customer from Essex took to social media to share an image of the inside of the packet yesterday as well as tagging the Scottish brand in her complaint.

Incredibly, the twelve crisps were accounted for included the small shrapnel at the bottom of the bag which some might discard into the bin.

Many social media users were quick to join the woman on her complaint and share their own issues about ‘shrinkflation’.

The woman took to social media to vent her frustration.

Shrinkflation is a process whereby companies slowly lessen the amount of product sold to keep up with inflation as opposed to raising the price of the product.

The woman shared the image of the McCoy’s Ridge Cut crisps, snapping the entirety of the inside of the bag.

The image shows a large amount of space deep enough for her phone to go into the packet and snap the measly mixture of crisps.

While the woman claimed she was unimpressed by the company who charge over a pound for their snacks in most shops, she even went as far as weighing the crisps to check the weight.

The salty snack were advertised on the packet at weighing 25g but when they were put on the scales they came in at a paltry 17g – a full 8g underweight equating to one third of the packet missing.

The image was shared online yesterday with the caption: “Hey McCoy’s. Why have I bought a bag of crisps when it only has this many in – I counted 12 crisps in total (including the broken bits). Not very impressed.”

The post gathered 7,800 likes and over 500 comments from social media users who were enraged by the laughable serving.

One user said: “Shrinkflation. They do that instead of putting up the price hoping you’re not going to notice.”

Another added: “If everyone stopped buying them for even a week and told them on socials why – would they change?”

A third said: “I no longer buy them. It would be great to see everyone else stop buying them and other brands that do the same. The large plastic bags for such a small amount is fraudulent.”

Another responded: “It’s a joke. Out of interest did you weigh them to see if they were the weight stated.”
