Police hunt golf course motorcycle vandals

FIFE Constabulary is appealing for information following damage to greens at two golf clubs in Leven.

The damage was caused to the 1st and 18th greens at Leven Links Golf Club and the 18th green at Scoonie Golf Club and is believed to have taken place around 10pm on Sunday, April 29.  It appears that a motorcycle was deliberately driven over the greens with the intention of causing damage to them.

Local Community Inspector Donald Jenks said: “We have spoken to local people and a motorcycle was seen in the area around 10:10pm. Across the Levenmouth area the anti-social use of motorcycles and quad-bikes is a priority and police officers will take robust action against those responsible for committing such offences.

“It is particularly disappointing that the hard work by the green-keeping staff at the courses to prepare them for the golfing season has been spoiled by the actions of one individual.

“Anyone caught using a vehicle off road or on a road but without insurance, faces the bike being seized and destroyed. Additional patrols will be operating in the area to deter further offences and gather information that will help identify those responsible.”
