Why Fitting Automatic Doors To Your Business Premises Is Beneficial

I am a huge fan of automatic doors in shops and other businesses. They just open instead of me having to work out whether to push or pull – inevitably I get it wrong! The thing is, when I’ve got several bags of shopping or am carrying parcels to be posted, I don’t have a free hand to open the door to the premises.

Here are a few more reasons why automatic doors are great for a business or organisation.

These days, public facing businesses and organisations have a legal obligation to be accessible. Automatic doors can help with such compliance. They enable inclusivity for visitors, staff and clients regardless of mobility issues or other disabilities. They make the building accessible. As I’ve already said, when you are carrying things, you don’t have a free hand to open the door. And if the door is stiff to open, it can be really challenging.

Automatic doors are also useful for anyone with a disability as it allows ease of access. I have seen people in wheelchairs really struggle with manual doors, particularly if they open out the way. They have to try and manoeuvre the chair as they open the door and get inside before the door closes on them. It would put me off for sure. The motion sensor detects movement as someone approaches and the doors slide open so that they can go through the doors without having to stop.

Safety features are also an important aspect of automatic doors. They are fitted with sensors that can detect an obstruction. This means that they won’t close if someone or something is in the doorway, particularly useful for anyone pushing a trolley or pushchair. I remember in the days before the sensors, waiting to go into a shop on the high street and seeing a delivery man with a laden trolley trying to manoeuvre through the door. The doors opened but didn’t give him long enough to push the trolley through and they closed on it. Luckily, there were customers behind him and the doors opened again so he was able to get through before they shut again.

Automatic doors can provide an added layer of security. The doors can be locked down remotely in the event of an emergency situation. They can be fitted with an access control system that only allows authorised personnel to enter. I know how important it is to have controlled access, having worked in a building that had many treasures. There are always going to be areas that are not suitable for public access and keeping them secure is important.

These doors can help with business image and the aesthetics of the building. I have seen some fabulous automatic doors, they are almost works of art. They have been designed with the organisation’s branding and different textures in the glass that is unique. It certainly makes a standout statement about the organisation.

As you can see, automatic doors can make a building more accessible, enhance its beauty, and keep it more secure. It is definitely something to consider if you are upgrading or moving your business to new premises.
