Touching video shows moment Busted briefly stop Scots gig as fan faints

A TOUCHING video shows the moment that boyband Busted halted one of their Scottish concerts after spotting a fan needing help.

The band comprising Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and James Bourne were performing at The Ovo Hydro, Glasgow earlier this week when they came to the aid of a concert-goer.

Whilst performing their hit single 3AM they were midway through the bridge of the song when a fan appeared to faint in the standing area.

Kelsey McNeill was in attendance and was filming the band, she captured their genuine concern over the fan’s wellbeing.

The video begins with Busted front man Charlie Simpson singing the lyrics: “Don’t think about you at night, I’m happy to be alone.”

The 38-year-old appears to be distracted whilst he looks out into the audience although the rest of the band continue playing their instruments.

Members of the audience can be heard carrying the chorus of the song as Simpson says: “Stop, stop, stop, stop.”

Simpson looks down at the crowd asking: “Is everyone okay? Need some help down here right now, everyone security please, everyone.”

The musician then takes off his guitar alongside bandmate Matt Willis as both appear ready to jump into the crowd to aid a stricken fan who appears to have fainted.

However, just as the two superstars are about to head down to the pit, the woman gets up and Simpson says: “Good, she’s up.”

Keen to get the gig re-started, Simpson addresses the crowd stating: “Okay, I’ll just leave these guys to do it now. Shall we do that again?”

The band then restart the song much to the delight of the 14,000 strong crowd at the Ovo Hydro who settle back into the concert.

Kelsey,25, shared the clip on TikTok yesterday with the caption: “Glad the fan is okay. What a great band.”

The video has received more than 5,000 likes as well as attracting hundreds of comments from social-media users.

One commented: “It’s literally that easy to be a decent human being as a performer. Why couldn’t Travis Scott do it when Busted, Adele and many, many others can.”

Another added: “Charlie and Matt were 100% about to jump in the crowd then to help. Glad the person got up man and was ok, it’s hot in these crowds.”

Kelsey replied to this saying: “Yes. This is what I thought too and my boyfriend said they were and he seen security telling them not to jump. Little lifeguards.”

A third replied: “Matt went into dad mode and was about ready to jump and and Charlie was like ok we doing this, James probably still mid running around.”

Another added: “Imagine passing out then coming round and realising Charlie Simpson was at your service so passing out again in sheer delight.”

One user commented: “The way Charlie spotted he issue and didn’t take his eyes off them. Charlie and Matt are the best!”

Speaking today Kelsey said: “The show was incredible and Busted had got round to playing 3AM which is one of my favourites.

“When main man Charlie Simpson stopped the show to help someone in the wow pit who’d presumably fell/fainted.

“The band called for security and she was back on her feet and the show went on.

“It’s just great to see a band looking out for their fans and acknowledging the crowds actions/reactions.”

Busted continue their 20th anniversary tour tonight in Liverpool and will tour the rest of the United Kingdom until the end of October.
