Gilson Gray scoops pair of top law awards

SCOTTISH law firm Gilson Gray has scooped two top law awards with wins for its litigation team at The Legal 500 and The Herald Law Awards.

Rosie Walker was named Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year at The Legal 500 Scotland Awards.

In June, she represented operators in the high-profile case which found the City of Edinburgh Council’s short-term let licensing policy to be unlawful.

Gilson Gray’s debt recovery team was also recognised at The Herald Law Awards, taking home the accolade for Debt Recovery Team of the Year for the second year in a row.

In June, Rosie represented operators in the high-profile case which found the City of Edinburgh Council’s short-term let licensing policy to be unlawful.

The firm has seen a busy period of growth over the past twelve months, including five senior promotions in its litigation team.

It now employs staff across offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, East Lothian and Lincoln, as well as a satellite hub in Galashiels.

Rosie Walker, partner and head of litigation at Gilson Gray, said: “This year we’ve had the opportunity to work on some really interesting cases for some great clients, including challenging the local authority’s short-term lets licensing policy and its decision to close all strip clubs in the city.

“Our team has forged a strong reputation for the quality of our commercial work and our public law offering, and the firm has many more exciting projects on the horizon.”

David Alexander’s team won ‘Debt Recovery Team of the Year’ for the second year in a row at The Herald Law Awards.

David Alexander, partner and head of debt recovery at Gilson Gray, said: “I’m very proud of the team’s achievements.

“Winning this award for the second consecutive year is a true reflection of our dedication and constant drive to find new ways to improve the service we offer to our clients.

“We’re excited to see what’s next for our fast-growing team, as we look to continue the success of our regional expansion across the UK.”
