RAITH Rovers are set to unveil the capture of Hearts legend Rudi Skacel as part of a double signing secured by new boss Gary Locke.

The 37-year-old, who scored in both of Hearts’ Scottish Cup triumphs in 2006 and 2012, has been training with the Kirkcaldy side in recent days and negotiations over a deal are understood to have been finalised.

Locke is desperate to strengthen his attacking options and believes the Czech Republic veteran fits the bill.

The new Stark’s Park boss, who has seen his side defeat Cove Rangers and Montrose 2-1 in their opening competitive outings, is also poised to recruit another striker ahead of Saturday’s Betfred Cup trip to face Ross County.

He said: “We’re working on a couple of things at the moment and it’s blatantly obvious that we do need to strengthen up front.

“We’re hopeful of having Rudi Skacel in the squad, we’re very hopeful.

“Actually, we’re really hopeful of getting two in before Saturday if we can.

“Obviously, Rudi’s more of a forward-thinking player and, for me, we certainly need a striker.

“We’re working on that just now and I’m hopeful we could have both of them in place for the weekend.”

It is expected the duo will be unveiled at a media conference at Stark’s Park on Thursday afternoon.
