Rangers superfan changes name to that of club hero – who’s leaving

A RANGERS supporter has gone to extreme lengths to show his love for the club – by legally changing his name to that of one of the team’s centre backs.

David Low has been so taken by Clint Hill’s performances for the Ibrox outfit this season that he decided to legally change his name to that of the veteran English defender.

Unfortunately, the newly-renamed Clint Hill will be the only one at Ibrox next season as the footballer of that name is leaving this month.

David will now be known as Clint, like his Rangers hero

The Rangers fan paid £40 to become Clint Hill and shared the news on Facebook.

David or ‘Clint’ as he’ll now be known, shared two images of the application to change his name on Facebook with the caption: “”Just paid £40 to legally change my name to Clint Hill.”

The news has since been liked over 2,200 on Facebook with over 450 shares and 780 comments.

The first photo shows the official form to be filled in the change his name in law.

The Gers defender will leave the club at the end of the season

Whilst the second is a screenshot of the email, confirming that he wishes to change his name.

The email is titled: “Confirmation of your Adult Deed Poll Application” and shows that his name will be changed from David Low to Clint Hill.

Facebook users have been quick to react to the bizarre change.

Lawry Ross wrote: “Love big Clint.”

David Freeman commented: “That is some supreme love right there.”

Whilst John Smillie joked: “I’m going to do this but change last name to the young player Beerman, first name Geeza, Geeza Beerman.”

It has recently been revealed that 38-year-old defender Clint Hill will be leaving Rangers at the end of the season when his current contract expires.

The Englishman joined last summer but has been told that he doesn’t feature in new boss Pedro Caixinha’s plans for next season.
