Formula One driver leaves Still Game fans howling after mistakenly recreating show’s hilarious scene in promo snaps

A FORMULA One driver has left Still Game fans howling after mistakenly recreating one of the show’s most hilarious scenes in recent promotional pictures.

The F1 season begins again this Saturday in Bahrain, and ahead of the curtain-raiser in the Persian Gulf, all 20 drivers posed for snaps.

However, after having their usual portrait pictures taken, it seems the camera crew opted to switch to a fish-eye lens.

Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas posed for his light-hearted picture, but fans of the Scots comedy quickly realised he bore a striking resemblance to co-lead Jack Jarvis during his famous “bogus gasman” exchange from the show’s first episode.

In the image, Bottas stands looking suspiciously into the circular peephole whilst sporting his now traditional moustache and wearing his racing suit.

The picture is a near-perfect recreation of actor Ford Kiernan during the moment that Jack notices a peephole on the door of what is soon to be his home and decides to have a laugh.

Aired almost 22 years ago, the scenes see Jack hovering outside the peephole to test it out, joking with pal Victor McDade, played by Greg Hemphill, to open the door for “he is a bogus gasman and has come to ransack his house”.

Hilariously the pair are then interrupted by the priest and pallbearers who are removing the former tenant of the home, who has passed away.

The image was shared online earlier this week by one tickled fan with the caption: “For I am a bogus gasman with fake ID and I’m here to ransack your house.”

The post received over 470 likes with comments from both fans of Still Game and Formula One left in stitches by the comparison.

One said: “Those faces.”

Another added: “Those are terrific photos.”

A third replied: “Funny expression.”

Still Game ran for nine seasons with many fans of the sitcom arguing that the bogus gasman scene could be one of the highlights of the show.

Formula One returns this weekend and sees Lewis Hamilton aiming to land his eighth drivers’ championship and break his tie with the legendary Michael Schumacher.
