Easter miracle as train passenger turns rail works misery into £280,000 bet

EASTER holiday train diversions are usually the start of hours of misery.

But one traveller who decided to pass time by making a bet ended up scooping almost £280,000.

The unnamed man found himself at London’s Victoria Station as a result of Easter rail works.

While waiting for his train he placed £20 on a 17-leg football accumulator.

The bet delivered on Sunday night when when French champions PSG emerged as winners from ‘Le Classique’ thanks to an own goal forced by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The bet is believed to be the biggest payout – £279,830 – to have come from any betting shop based within a train station in the UK.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Bank holiday rail works are usually always bad news but one Easter traveller made it pay in style thanks to an Ibrahimovic-inspired PSG comeback.

“The winner was probably cursing his luck when he found out his train was being diverted but we’re not sure he minds now.”
