Aldi shopper shares disgusting photos after opening can of beans so mouldy they look like “intestines”

AN ALDI customer has shared revolting images of her can of beans that was so mouldy, it resembled “intestines”.

Leanne Mathieson from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, was left horrified when she opened the 31p can and saw the disgusting contents.

Images show the mouldy beans which have turned into a pile of greenish grey sludge.

The congealed contents are unrecognisable, despite the tin suggesting the beans are a year in date.

A furious Leanne, 32, took to social media to complain about the product.

She wrote in a post on Wednesday: “Fuming, I have emailed and messaged via Facebook and had no response.

“I can’t understand how something like this gets into a tin of beans, but the fact no one is responding is more disgusting who knows how many tins have been contaminated by whatever this is.”

The photos have revolted social media users.

Kimberley Phillips wrote under the post: “Would put me off beans for life.”

Karen Theresa added: “Imagine a blind person buying and cooking those.”

Trisha Murat said: “I already think they taste disgusting.

“Mine won’t eat them. Heinz only. Yuk yuk take it back and kick up a fuss that’s just not right whatever it is.”

And Maureen Hammond wrote: “If you enlarge the photo the front bit looks like half the head of a mouse, look even closer to the right it looks like an eye.”

Speaking today, Leanne said: “I was almost sick.

“It looked like tubes, like intestines.

“I was disgusted by Aldi and their response was we will give you a refund if I take it back to the store with receipt of purchase.

“I told them that wasn’t the point.

“What if a blind person had opened them.

“The story could be completely different as they could have choked.”

Today Aldi said sorry to Leanne.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “Although very rare, incidents like this can occasionally occur if packaging is damaged at any point before the product is consumed, as the contents may be exposed to air.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused Ms Mathieson and are happy to provide a full refund.”
