Scot captures image of bizarre “monster” tree

A SCOT has captured an image of a bizarre “monster” tree in the Scottish Highlands.

George Glaister pulled over to take a photograph of the disconcerting foliage that he spotted outside a house in Alness, Ross and Cromarty on Tuesday (SEP 28).

A hilarious image shows the plump shrub in Novar Road featuring two CD discs as eyes and a mouth painted on featuring sharp teeth.

The funny street addition even features on Google Maps from 2019 but appears to have grown in size over recent years.

George, 65, who has the YouTube channel Horacethe, has noticed the eye-catching hedge for a number of years but only stopped to take a photo this week.

He posted the image onto Facebook later on the same day (TUE), writing: “Finally got round to photographing the ‘Monster’ hedge on Novar Road.”

The post has been liked over 200 times and received comments from social media users who found the odd piece of gardening funny.

One user wrote: “Don’t touch it or it will chase you up the high street and you will end up in the pub.”

Another said: “Really well done whoever has cut, trimmed and shaped this tree made an excellent job, and put smiles on a lot of people’s faces.”

White another added: “Was looking at it yesterday, love it. I have fond memories of Emoh Ruo and all the lovely family who lived there.”

Speaking today (FRI), George said: “I’ve known about the ‘monster’ hedge, it’s actually a tree, for years, as I pass it every day.

“Every time I pass it I’ve always said to myself ‘I must stop and take a photograph one day’.

“The ‘eyes’ are CDs and that the whole tree gets a makeover every Christmas.

“The mouth is made from a piece of Perspex roofing sheet with the features painted on.”
