England Women’s Rugby player shares hilarious reaction to footage of her crawling along pitch during live interview

AN ENGLAND Women’s Rugby player has shared her hilarious reaction to the bizarre footage of her crawling along the pitch behind an ongoing post-match interview.

Having just thrashed Scotland 58-7 in the opening round of this season’s Six Nations, Saturday’s match marked the final appearance for England’s highest capped player Sarah Hunter.

The 37-year-old spoke to BBC correspondents Gabby Logan and Maggie Alphonsi after the match, but her time in the spotlight was inadvertently – and hilariously – stolen by teammate Hannah Botterman.

Hilarious footage shows Saracens prop Botterman seemingly attempting to pass by the cameras unnoticed so as not to intrude – by crawling along the pitch.

The 23-year-old appeared to believe the interview was being filmed in a close-up shot, but was instead caught by cameras on all fours, crawling right behind Hunter and her interviewers.

Once Botterman crawled her way past the interview podium and seemingly believing she’d gotten away with it, she can be seen casually rising to her feet and jogging out of frame.

The side-splitting footage was filmed and shared to social media on Saturday by Hannah Rogerson, who wrote: “Honestly have watched this at least 10 times and can’t stop laughing.”

The tweet has since received over 800 likes and several comments – including Botterman herself.

Botterman retweeted the video yesterday, hilariously joking: “I shouldn’t be allowed out the house.”

Her quip received more than 3,200 likes and dozens of comments from users left in stitches by the footage.

Both Logan and Alphonsi replied to the retweet with laughing emojis, whilst Hannah Rogerson replied: “Sorry to have highlighted it, was just too funny not to share. Thank you for the needed laugh.”

Ali Mahoney wrote: “It was a brilliant moment that lightened the very emotional mood for everyone watching! Well done on your TV gold moment.”

Wendy Rogers commented: “I love that the camera operator panned out to catch you doing it.”

Chad Southam replied: “Doing your best Harry Kane impression.”

Jeremy Kemp wrote: “From ‘I don’t want to be on TV’ to sports TV’s funniest moment of the season. Brilliant.”

Joshua Southern said: “Incredible – only a day into the championship and this is my highlight.”

Hunter managed to play 58 minutes before leaving the pitch to a huge ovation in a game that saw England score a remarkable ten tries.

Botterman meanwhile is still recovering from a knee injury sustained in November, but hopes to be fit for England’s fourth-round meeting with Ireland.

This weekend England will face Italy whilst Scotland play Wales in the Women’s Six Nations Championship.
